Jack LaLanne died the "fitness guru" and creator of "Power Juicer"
The popular "fitness guru" and creator of the juice extractor "Power Juicer, Jack LaLanne died of respiratory failure resulting from pneumonia at his home in Morro Bay on California's central coast, his agent Rick Hersh, who recalled that Jack "was brought every day of his life until the end."
For his part, his wife with whom he was married for 51 years and his frequent companion in his presentations on television, for promoting his own juice extractor, Elaine LaLanne I can not hide her grief and in a statement said: "Not only have I lost my husband and a great American icon, but my best friend and most loving couple anyone would dream to have. "
His exercise program was emblematic of television in the early 1950 to 1970. LaLanne and his dog Happy encouraged children to get out of bed and bring their mothers to watch TV. Developed exercises that do not require special equipment, but only a chair and a towel.
"The only way you can hurt your body is not using it" said LaLanne. "Inactivity is the murderer and, remember, it's never too late (to start exercising)."
She founded a chain of gyms that bore his name, and in recent years promoted the value of fruit and raw vegetables to help sell a juicer that called Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer.
LaLanne's daily routine consisted of two hours of weightlifting and one hour of swimming. "It's a lifestyle, something you do the rest of your life," he said.
